Amurkulov, the Sixth National MP of Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of the National Parliamentary Committee for Transportation, Design and Construction, and Chairman of the National Parliamentary Social Democratic Party, was appointed as a guest professor by NWU on May 14th, 2018. The ceremony was held on Taibai Campus, followed by his report entitled “Sino-Kyrgyzstan Relations in the New Era”. President Guo Lihong attended the ceremony and issued the Letter of Appointment.

In his speech, Guo Lihong reviewed NWU’s pragmatic collaboration with the Central Asian countries in various fields. President Guo looks forward to continuous and in-depth discussions with Amurkulov on strengthening the cooperation and exchanges between NWU and the Kyrgyzstan side, and making new contributions to the deepening of friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan and the construction of the “Belt and Road” Initiative.

In his report, Amurkulov mentioned that the bilateral political trust and friendly relations have been increasingly strengthened since the establishment of diplomatic relation in 1992. In particular, the “Belt and Road" Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping provided unprecedented opportunities for exchanges and cooperation. Extensive collaborations in fields such as politics, economy, science and technology, security, humanities and education have been deepened. At present, China has become one of the largest trading partners and source of investment countries in Kyrgyzstan. China has helped Kyrgyzstan to build a number of infrastructure and livelihood projects, making important contributions to the development of Kyrgyzstan. Amurkulov believes that the current focus of Sino-Kyrgyzstan cooperation is to implement the signed agreements and to continue to deepen new cooperation in many fields. He highly appraised the multi-facet pragmatic cooperation between NWU and the Kyrgyzstan side, especially for the establishment of the Zhongda China Petro College, a subordinate school of the Central Asia Institute, Northwest University in Kyrgystan. Amurkulov expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the appointment and promised to further promote the cooperation between the two sides in the future.

Amurkulov graduated from Frunze Institute of Political Science, the Soviet Union. He was once the assistant to Vice President of Kyrgyzstan, first Deputy Prime Minister, General Inspector of Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Education, Minister of Railway, the National MP from the first to fourth sessions, and mayor of Bishkek. He is at present the Sixth National MP, Chairman of the National Parliamentary Committee for Transportation, Design and Construction, and Chairman of the National Parliamentary Social Democratic Party. He is also the Second Level National Advisor, awarded the “Railway Man” National Medal.
