The Founding Ceremony of the Xi’an New Silk Road University Students Alliance was held in Xi’an on 23rd, September of 2017. Northwest University joined the Alliance as one of the initial members. The Vice-President, Prof. Jia Mingde and the Dean of the School of International Cultural Exchange of NWU, Ms. Ren Huilian were invited to attend the Founding Ceremony and delivered speeches. Over 50 presidents and representatives of other universities along the Silk Road countries attended this ceremony.

The Xi’an New Silk Road University Students Alliance is a non-governmental, non-profit internationalized Alliance among higher education institutions. It aims at cultivating highly globalized and specialized talents along the Belt and the Road countries through various exchange programs among the member universities. NWU is elected to be the General Secretary Department of the Alliance. Besides NWU, over 20 universities joined the Alliance on the Founding Ceremony including Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xidian University, Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications, Northwest A & F University, Xi’an International Studies University, Sofia University of Bulgaria, Burapha University of Thailand, Southern University College of Malaysia, Benha University of Egypt, just to name a few.
